New Partnership Aims to Engage Students at Innovations High School

Continuing its mission to engage high school students in media production, Focus on Tomorrow has signed a contract with Innovations High School in Chicago to teach 2 periods of TV Production.  The class will focus on the history of television and will progress into a hands-on approach to the basics of producing media for all platforms.  The one year contract offers Focus on Tomorrow the opportunity to pass on years of experience in media to low income students with the hopes of inspiring them to believe in their potential.

Innovations High School is a program of the Circle Foundation and a campus of the Youth Community Charter School system in downtown Chicago.  A great number of our students at Innovations High School are former dropouts, which means that there is a strong need for remediation and truancy/dropout prevention services. The culture at the campus is one of family and support for all students. Each student is assigned a staff mentor upon enrollment, and given support for a variety of needs throughout their residency as an Innovations High School student. Student Services and discipline are managed by the Dean of Students Office which works closely with Security staff and mentors to ensure a balance of supportive services for students.

Focus on Tomorrow is excited to join the team at Innovations High School to work towards engaging students in the arts and investing in their futures.  This one year contract between the two parties opens the door to a possible expansion into other YCCS schools.  The charter school system contracts 21 schools throughout Chicago, each offering at-risk students a second chance at a better life.  Focus on Tomorrow is proud to support that mission.
